I've always felt like I was born in the wrong era. I was born in 1982, but my soul, I'm pretty sure, was born in the 40's-50's decade. I say this because I've always been drawn to music from that era, to the way life was, to an extent.
If I were to have been born in that era, or at least a teenager in that time, I'm pretty confident I'd have been a square. You know, the good girl type. I think I'd probably been like Sandy from "Grease" or Allison from "Crybaby".....a good girl that wants to be bad.
My favorite car is a 57 Chevy Bel Air. I'd want it to have a white rag top, be a convertible, cherry red with white interior.
Isn't it a beauty?!
I've always found soldiers from this time period to be particularly handsome. I don't know what it is about them, but they just look so dashing!
I think it was a time that seemed so much....simpler. It was the norm to have family dinner around the table. Kids had a little bit more respect, even the so called bad kids. I wish I could go back and just spend a week in this time period, just to experience it.
Welcome to the March edition of the Secret Subject Swap! This week, 14 brave bloggers picked a secret subject for someone else and were assigned a secret subject to interpret in their own style. Today we are all simultaneously divulging our topics and submitting our posts.
My subject was "What decade do you feel you belong in, and why?" and I received it from Rants From My Crazy Kitchen. Thank you for the prompt! I hope I did it justice.
Check out what everyone else has for you!!

Aaaawww, love the time travel and your pics! Do you know "back when" by Tim McGraw?
ReplyDeleteI do know that song!
DeleteI hear you babe, it was a time when family made time for each other and focused on each other instead of now. I would love some of that nostalgia and values in our time.
ReplyDeleteI would too. We make it a point to have family dinner every night of the week.
DeleteI can identify, I've always felt like I was an "old soul"
ReplyDeleteSpatulas On Parade
Yup....I can see that about you.
DeleteHey-O Twinnie. FIrst of all, I love your new layout. It's very cute. Secondly, I know why we were meant to be blog friends, I agree whole heartedly with being born in the wrong decade. My grandpa was also my very favorite person in the whole world. What a wonderful picture of your grandparents. The car is not too shabby either!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I did that all by myself! lol Yup.....as if we weren't already twinnies!!!
DeleteLove the picture of your grandpa.
ReplyDeleteI have to admit that although I understand why you say you'd be happy back then, I know how much you have to say and I'm not sure you could have said it in those days. So I'm pretty happy that you're here, now.
Thank you!
DeleteYea, I wouldn't be able to be as out spoken as I am.....
Love the 50s, too!! And the 40s and the 60s.... LOL
ReplyDeleteGreat post! :D
Thank you!
DeleteI'd take this ride with you, as long as it's in that car! I agree things seem simpler back then. Great job!
ReplyDeleteIsn't that car beautiful?!
DeleteYou are a girl after my own heart! This is EXACTLY the era I wish I could live in! I got hooked many years ago after seeing the movie, "American Graffiti." It's an oldie but if you haven't seen it, treat yourself to it! Make sure it is the ORIGINAL, not the sequel. You'll LOVE it!
ReplyDeleteI will check it out for sure. I haven't seen it.
DeleteI love Crybaby!! I, too, think I would have done well in the 50s. Apart from the pantyhose. Not a fan. :-P
ReplyDeleteYea, I'm not a fan of pantyhose either. But I LOVE Cry-Baby......such a dirty little secret! lol
