I didn't want my first post to be a political one.
I didn't think I would HAVE to write a political post.
Then Saturday came and 20 people in El Paso lost their lives due to a mass shooting.
Later that night, 9 more lost their lives in Dayton due to a mass shooting.
I’m heartbroken.
I’m confused.
I’m pissed off.
In a matter of 24 hours, 29 people in two different cities lost their lives. So many more are wounded.
THIS HAS TO STOP!
Do NOT come at me with some bullshit that gun control isn’t the answer. OF COURSE IT IS! These assault style rifles SHOULD NOT be in the hands of every day people.
Do NOT make this about mental illness. Yes, these bastards are sick in the head but this is about nothing more than pure hatred. Especially in El Paso.
It is sad that we live in a world where my JOB is more secure and safe than a school. We live in a world where a stricter background check is done to get hired for a job than it is to purchase a gun.

The TERRORISTS who did this were WHITE, AMERICAN men. One published a manifesto proclaiming that he was targeting Hispanic individuals. Do NOT tell me that this wasn’t spurred by the rhetoric spewed from this poor excuse for a “president”.
El Paso, Dayton, Gilroy...WHITE men. Not Hispanic, not Muslim, WHITE. This was homegrown, Domestic terrorism. And the murderer in El Paso was handled almost childlike!

WHAT?! Why do we need that? Why do we need more bullets in a situation like this?

No one wants your guns. We want gun REFORM. You don't need an AR or AK rifle. They should not be made available to the public.
This country doesn’t need thoughts and prayers. The victims and their families don’t need them either. THEY NEED CHANGE! Trump needs to go! Common sense gun reform needs to take place and assault style weapons need to be banned. The NRA needs to be shut down. They are nothing more than a domestic terrorist group. But that won’t happen because the GOP needs them in their pocket.
The time for change is not tomorrow. It is NOW.

ReplyDeleteA scary byproduct of this whole thing is that mental illness is being further stigmatized. People who struggle with these challenges don't harm others any more than those without diagnosed mental illness do. Instead of marrying hate to those struggling with their mental health, we need to separate them. Loudly and clearly. Or we're going to start locking up people who are struggling with seratonin level imbalances against their will (trump already said something about this) and continuing to have these mass shootings because mental illness and CHOOSING HATE are two different things.
It needed to be said. It's ridiculous the direction and way things are going in this country. Trump makes me EMBARRASSED for our country.
