It's a new year and, with that, comes the time-honored tradition of making a new years resolution.
But let's be real...we are coming off a year that was an absolute shit-show. I think we all have the same resolution this year and that is to simply survive.
Usually, my resolution is to lose weight, like everyone else. I'll start with the best of intentions, but then...cake. Or fast food. Or a bad day. Or I'll stub my toe. Being a food addict, it doesn't usually take much for me to not only fall off the wagon but to drag it into the woods and set it ablaze.
With me not making any New Years resolutions for 2021, I have decided that I'm going to try something new. I suck at planning and prepping. But I'm REALLY good at lists. So I'm going to create a "meal plan" and a shopping list to go with it and try to stick to that. I know it doesn't seem like much, but if I can do that, then I'm golden.
I'm realizing, as I get older, that it isn't really the food we eat that makes us fat. It's the AMOUNT of food we eat. And I can eat a lot of food. As a matter of fact, I cook like we have probably 10 people coming over and the majority of that food is eaten by myself and my husband.
We are setting bad examples for our kids, teaching them that food is a coping mechanism. They are forming an unhealthy relationship with food and while that isn't such a HUGE deal for Sebastian and Anastasia (they have amazing metabolism), it can be for Caleb, who was blessed with parents with slow metabolism. I want better for my kids.
Something else new that I'm going to try is teaching myself how to use Word Press so I can have a more professional looking blog and start to transition over toward one that will generate an income.
Kinda lame things to learn but...well, my expectations for 2021 are not that high. lol
Welcome to a Secret Subject Swap. This month 5 brave bloggers picked a secret subject for someone else and were assigned a secret subject to interpret in their own style. Today we are all simultaneously divulging our topics and submitting our posts.
My subject was "What is something new you’d like to try this year that you’ve never tried before?" and it was submitted by my good friend over at Wandering Web Designer. Thanks for the prompt!

I love that your resolutions are achievable, most of us set ourselves up for failure.
ReplyDeleteI have a Word Press blog and am an admin of a few of my friends' as well. I'm not good at it, but I know the basics. PM me if you have any questions, I'll see if I can help.
I will, thank you!
DeleteI love that your resolution is just to survive. That's how I feel exactly. Exhausted with it all, but I see a hope for the first time in a very long time. As for WordPress, you know that's my thing right? I will help you any way I can. I know how hard it is starting out. Don't buy a theme...let's talk!
