This year, for the first time in probably 12 years, I'm not cooking Thanksgiving dinner.
We live with my dad and his kitchen is very small. His stove is very outdated and run down. Only 2 burners work and you can't use them at a temp higher than medium.
Typically, we would go to my dad's mother-in-law's house. But she isn't hosting this year due to family drama and her not wanting to step on any toes.
We scrambled to come up with an idea on how we can get in on that yummy food, because honestly, Thanksgiving has been HEAVY on my mind here lately. So, I was thinking, who haven't we seen in a very long time?
My mother-in-law.
Who cooks AMAZING food?
My mother-in-law.
Who only lives about 6ish hours away?
My mother-in-law.
So we are going to Michigan for Thanksgiving this year. I won't have to cook, I won't have to do much of anything. I'll get to just enjoy the food.
I'm really, really excited for this!
So this year, my Thanksgiving Day will look like us leaving Kentucky at about 2 or 3 in the morning, driving to a suburb of Detroit. Resting just a little bit before dinner, eating and napping and eating and napping.
I'll miss cooking, but man, I cannot wait for that yummy food!
Welcome to a Secret Subject Swap. This month 5 brave bloggers picked a secret subject for someone else and were assigned a secret subject to interpret in their own style. Today we are all simultaneously divulging our topics and submitting our posts.
My prompt was "What does your Thanksgiving Day look like?" and it was submitted by the fabulous Rena from Wandering Web Designer. Sorry it took so long...life.
Here are links to all the sites now featuring Secret Subject Swap posts. Sit back, grab a cup, and check them all out. See you there:
I love doing the Thanksgiving cooking too, but I wouldn't mind someone else doing all the work now and then. Enjoy!
