Stopping By To Chat With A Fly

It has been a minute since I have posted anything.

I'd like to say it's because I've been busy, but the truth is, I just lost interest in blogging.

So the point of this challenge is to post about things that wouldn't typically be full-blog worthy. Naturally, everything I'm going to post would be full-blog worthy, but hey...I'm lazy and this is a short cut. lol So let's just jump right in, shall we?

~ I went to my first professional football game in January. We saw the Cincinnati Bengals take on the Baltimore Ravens. This is the game where Sam Hubbard recovered the fumble at the 1 yard line and returned it 99 yards for a touchdown (thank you to my husband for telling me how to explain that...lol). I went for my husband, because the man lives and breathes football. But I had a great time...even if I froze my ass off.

~ In November of 2022, I was wrongfully fired from PNC. They said I was dishonest about something, they couldn't prove I was dishonest and the state of Kentucky agreed with me. ANYWAY, I started looking for a new job, but wasn't having much luck. In February or so of 2023, I applied for a secretary position at the local middle school. It turned out being a financial secretary position, which I am not qualified for. But they were so impressed by me that they recommended me for another job at a different school. The job was as an instructional assistant. I got that job and FELL IN LOVE with working at a school, teaching, and helping kids.
So, in May, I started grad school to get my MA in Middle School/Secondary Education Teaching. When I graduate, I will be certified to teach grades 5-12 English.

~ In May, Sebastian and Anastasia graduated high school! I might have mentioned that, when we moved to Northern Kentucky last year, Anastasia stayed behind. So she didn't go to the same school that Sebastian did. She continued home schooling and ultimately got her GED. I was so proud of her!!

Because I worked for the school district that Sebastian graduated from, I got give him his diploma. That was such a sweet moment that I will cherish forever.

~ Caleb got to his first drag show. He had SO MUCH FUN!

~ I started on Mounjaro last year. I've lost about 60 pounds since I started.

~ Matthew and I went to a Reds game and almost got hit with a ball. We found ourselves on TV...we are where the arrows are. lol

~ I got to meet Jason Smith!! If you don't know who he is, he won the Holiday Baking Championship back in 2016. He's from here in Kentucky and is just amazing! Lord Honey!!

~ We took the boys to see a WWE show. They had a blast.

~ We went to Cincinnati Pride for the parade. We didn't stay too long because it was hot, but we had so much fun. I got to hang with my friend Tiffany, plus we got to spend time together as a family, which we love doing.

~ Matthew, Anastasia, and I went to see Motionless in White, In This Moment, Fit For A King, and From Ashes to New. It was my second time seeing both Motionless in White and In This Moment. It was a ton of fun, as usual. I love going to concerts!

~ Sebastian and Anastasia turned 19. Anastasia and Sidney came up and we went out to celebrate. That night, Matthew and I took Anastasia to her first drag show at a gay bar. I've never seen that girl so in her element.

Here is a picture of me at 19.

~ Matthew and I went to The World Famous Chicken Festival, which is the big fair that our town hosts. Matthew got a Hello Kitty tattoo and I got my septum pierced at the flash sale Merritt Tattoo was hosting.

~ I got to make out with Col. Sanders at Kentucky Fried Chicken in Corbin, KY. It happens to be the FIRST KFC.

~ So, in August, we had to move back to Southeastern Kentucky from Northern Kentucky, where we were. It wasn't a move we WANTED to make, but we are finding that it was needed. We are spending a lot of time with Anastasia and Sidney, I am reconnecting with my sisters, we visit my Dad often. We have dreams, goals we want to reach.

Unfortunately, that meant I had to leave the job I loved. That made me really sad, because I really, really loved that job. Being that I am able to teach under Kentucky's Option 6, I started applying for teaching jobs. I was offered a job subbing and I absolutely LOVE IT!
Here is a picture of me in a classroom, because why not. lol

~ Caleb is back to homeschooling, temporarily. We have FINALLY filed the paperwork to change his name to Caleb Parker. Once we do that, he will go back to public school. This month, he will be going to see his endocrinologist to see if he can finally start testosterone. He is 14 and should be able to now. He is really excited about that.

~ Sebastian is enrolled in college. He is at a community college to get his Associate of Science, and then he will transfer to a university to get his Master in Astronomy and Physics, as well as one in Teaching. Anastasia is starting college in January at a community college to get her Associate of Arts degree. Then she will transfer to a university to get her Bachelors in English and a Masters in Teaching. I guess we are just going to have a family full of teachers!

~ Oh...and Anastasia got married.
Yes, you read that right...ANASTASIA GOT MARRIED! On October 13, she and Sidney got married in a very small ceremony at the park they went to on their first date. They have been together for 2 years, living together in their own apartment for 6 months. They have a dog together, a life together and I could NOT be more proud of them both. We adore Sidney and have welcomed her in our family since day 1.
L to R: Sidney, Olly (their best friend and the officiant), and Anastasia.

Olly, who officiated the wedding, has become one of our kiddos as well. We adore him!

And here is a picture of me with the kids and my Dad.

Okay, that's all I can think of for now. Buzz off and see what my friends have going on in their lives!

  2. WOW! So much going on, your lives are so full. I'm shocked that you were fired like that, but everything that's happened since has been great. Congratulations to you all. BTW, my mom actually made more money substitute teaching than she did when she got her full time teaching job.
