This was supposed to be posted on my birthday.
My 39th birthday.
So I guess it is fitting that I would TOTALLY forget to post. I mean...whatever I guess. lol
So, 2021 is coming to an end. There's a new variant of COVID-19 floating around out there and cases are spiking.
Again.
Yay.
This year saw a lot of changes. I started grad school to get my Masters in English and Creative Writing. We moved back to Kentucky from Florida. I landed an AMAZING job. Sebastian and Anastasia are seniors and will graduate in 2022. Caleb is attending school and is fully immersed in the school as a male. Matthew just found out that he ALSO landed an AMAZING job, but his starts in January. We've made some decisions, gone back and forth on where we want to put down roots (but we DO want to put down roots...for really real this time). Anastasia met an awesome young lady in a traditional way (she was a cashier at the grocery store, Anastasia went through her line, eyes met and heart set aflutter) and is in a very healthy relationship. It seems like it has both flown by and dragged on, but we are almost over it.
This year saw some bad news for us. We found out that Sebastian has Polycystic Kidney Disease, which is a chronic, autoimmune disorder that he will live with for the rest of his life. I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, due in large part to my weight. Matthew was also diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Caleb was diagnosed with ADHD and severe anxiety. Anastasia is about the only one who didn't really get any bad news this year. She DID, however, experience sexual harassment at her job. But she grew stronger from it and I'm proud of that.
I'm ready for 2022. I wish there would be some normalcy to it, but I don't see that really coming back. But I think 2022 is going to be the best year for us yet and I'm excited to see what it brings.
How 'bout you?
Welcome to a Secret Subject Swap. This month 5 brave bloggers picked a secret subject for someone else and were assigned a secret subject to interpret in their own style. Today we are all simultaneously divulging our topics and submitting our posts.
My prompt was "Another year is winding down, did this one fly by for you, or feel endless? Why?" and it was submitted by the fairy blogmother herself, Karen from Baking In A Tornado! Thank you for the prompt.
Here are links to all the sites now featuring Secret Subject Swap posts. Sit back, grab a cup, and check them all out. See you there:
Flown by and dragged on, that's exactly how I feel. I do have hope for 2022, but it's hope with a dose of skepticism.
