Welcome to Inclusion Academy!
We are a new school, born out of the desire to demonstrate what true inclusion is. The first thing you will notice is that every student will have a mandatory sensitivity classroom, designed to shine light on the struggles that some kids face within their lives. We feel this is important because we feel like it will cut down on bullying when students are informed and aware.
We don't discriminate and have allotted required time for prayer, based on your religious needs. No religious? That's great! Use this time how you see fit. We encourage personal preference and respect the various religious practices that are out there.
Pronouns are a must and each staff member will have their preferred pronouns listed on their ID, as will the students. We want you to feel safe as you are while at school. The more you are able to focus on your studies rather than a toxic environment, the more likely you are to be successful in school.
We get that anxiety happens and we want to provide you with a safe place to decompress. Each classroom has cameras and microphones, so you won't miss out if you are in one of our safe rooms.
We know how scary it can be, going to school. There is always a worry that a tragedy will happen. You'll notice the unique layout of our school, there the office is front and center and there is a vestibule before you access the hallways leading to the classrooms. This is to monitor who comes and goes in the school. All of the windows are bulletproof and the doors are equipped with safety features to keep the bad people out. Teachers will also have a button that they can press, worn on a necklace, that will alert the police in the event of a tragedy.
We want you to feel safe, respected, seen and valued at Inclusion Academy. Any suggestions on how we can improve we welcome.
Welcome to a Secret Subject Swap. This month myself and 4 other brave bloggers picked a secret subject for someone else and were assigned a secret subject to interpret in their own style. Today we are all simultaneously divulging our topics and submitting our posts.
My prompt was "You’re in charge of setting up a whole new school system. What will be
the major changes and priorities?" and it was submitted by my lovely friend Tamara from Part-time Working Hockey Mom.
See what my friends have for you by clicking the links below!
If you're a private school, I love everything about your mission. If you're a public school, I don't think religion has a place there (a subject which you know I'm sensitive about, and you know why).
ReplyDeleteI want my grandkids to go to this school. I would all kids eat free lunch and breakfast whether can afford it or not.
ReplyDeleteCreating a safe learning environment will definitely contribute to wonderful results and less mental stress.
